“Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!” Rev 4:8 (ESV)
What does it mean that God is holy? How does that affect my relationship with Him?
First of all, there is no fault in God, no defect in His character, no limit in His capacity to interact with me. What is great is that He has no baggage, no weaknesses, no issues. My relationship with Him is not about me needing to meet God’s unmet needs; it is about Him meeting my unmet needs and then me responding in gratitude and worship. He has no agenda, no expectations of what He needs from me. He is completely sufficient and fulfilled apart from me.
Because He doesn’t need anything from me, He is not offended by me, mad at me, hurt by me. When I neglect Him, use Him and disobey Him, He is grieved, but not distraught. It makes Him sad, but He is not stressed out and bent out of shape. He is fine regardless of how I treat Him. That means that He loves me right where I am, in spite of what wrong or bad things I do.
That is amazing….
Lord, thank you for your holiness!
