Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him, that glory may dwell in our land. Ps 85:9
His delight is not in the strength of the horse, nor his pleasure in the legs of a man, but the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love. Psalms 147:10-11 (ESV)
God appreciates, delights and enjoys it when I admit that I cannot do anything on my own; that I need His help, grace, mercy, direction, provision—everything! He is not impressed by what I can do; He is impressed that I look to Him to love me and that I revere, respect and worship Him for His greatness.
“Open your mouth wide and I will fill it.” Ps 81:10
The picture above is young birds that are totally dependent on their mother to feed them and are letting her know that they are hungry. This is our part: looking to God to meet our needs. His delight is to bless us abundantly.
God’s promise is that if we fear Him, then His glory will dwell in our land. What does that look like? One thing that comes to mind is when Immanuel intervenes in our lives and heals us from our wounds and our pain, setting us free to live in love and joy instead of fear and depression. How cool is that? To see God set people free, to work miracles in our lives, to help us enjoy the abundant life that He came to give us…that is seeing God’s glory.
