Meditations from Proverbs 9 on Lady Wisdom, Part 4
11 For by me your days will be multiplied, and years will be added to your life.
What does it mean that your days will be multiplied? Whatever good can come in a day, can it be twice…four times…ten times as good? Does it mean that what a normal person could accomplish in a decade, we can accomplish in a few years?
When I think about it, how full are most of our lives? Are we operating at our potential? Are we full of joy, or boredom? Are our marriages and close relationships thriving or empty?
I know that the primary way that I have curtailed my success is by my self-limiting thinking. Many things have held me back: my scarcity mentality, my feeling of unworthiness, my belief that my lot in life is mediocrity. Are these beliefs consistent with the fact that I am created in God’s image! Absolutely not!
What does it mean to live a life where I experience the principle of multiplication? Does it mean that I accomplish twice as much in my life as most people? That I have three times the impact? That I make four times as much money? That as a result of my life, five or even ten times as many people enter God’s kingdom, compared to the “average” person?
And when I think of 10x as my outer limit, what didJesussay in the parable of the sower about the multiplication of the seed? 30x, 60x and 100x. His decimal place was one to the right of my examples above!
How is all of this possible? The verse starts out with “By me…” So to experience this life of multiplication, it is all about God. It is being carried by Him, as on eagle’s wings. It is getting His direction and allowing Him to transform my thinking. It is cooperating with him in living out of faith and not unbelief. It is looking for and receiving the resources that He provides to help me along my journey.
What does living a life of multiplication look like to you?
